SANDRA CATER

A little bit about myself.

Born and bred in the Dumaresq Valley, my child/teenager years were spent working with my parents on a tobacco and cattle property. I have seen everything good and bad relating to safety. Safety was never something that was discussed or even mentioned whilst mixing chemicals by hand and spraying crops in open air tractors. As we were burning the surplus tobacco scraps we threw eggs in the burning heap to cook.

It wasn't until I returned from boarding school and completed my city stint that I made my way back to agriculture and back to the Dumaresq Valley. After 20 years on our farm with my husband and three children I have realised the reality of just how much farming families and industries are lacking in the knowledge when it comes to safety.

Having worked on my own farm as well as spending eight years in mining safety, I gained good knowledge, training and understanding of the processes and procedures that make safety applicable to absolutely any job. The most memorable and favourite lesson I took away was that of behavioural science. Learning how much your work environment, the people you associate with and the activities and stimuli that you surround yourself with can strongly influence and affect the decisions you make without realising why you actually made that particular choice, was a real eye opener for me.

Just because "It's always been done this way" doesn't mean it's the right way but you so often just conform. This is why I am so keen and excited to help people achieve a safer working environment and open their eyes to how easily it can be done. I can guide you step by step and I believe every bit of good you do towards safety improvement is better than none at all and can result in a life being saved or injury being prevented.

I believe in creating safety and maintaining compliance in the work we do on a daily basis.

When you work with me, you should expect a collaboration with transparency and consistency.
